What is the Coto de Caza Philharmonic Committee?
The Coto de Caza Philharmonic Committee is one of many "committees" of the Orange County Philharmonic Society. The Philharmonic Society is a large charity organized to raise funds for appreciation of the arts, and to bring music programs to the public schools. The Orange County Society "headquarters" is in Irvine, and the Irvine headquarters establishes by-laws that control our committee.
What is the Purpose of the Philharmonic?
The main purpose of the Philharmonic is to provide funds and support (money and volunteers) for music programs in the public schools. In addition, the Philharmonic Committee supports the arts in the community in general and is a focus for volunteering activity in the Coto Community.
What Does the Coto de Caza Committee Do to Raise Funds?
Every committee of the Philharmonic Society in Orange County is required to hold some type of fundraiser and contribute the funds to the Society. Some Orange County committees put on fashion shows, wine tastings, golf tournaments, and the Holiday Cruise of Lights, to name a few.
In 2014 we held our inaugural signature fund raiser called the Coto Talent Tea. We invited musically talented high school students in Orange County to compete for a $1,000 prize. Our fundraisers for this fiscal year are Pooch-Ini-In-The Park Dog Show, Evening at the Polo Grounds and the "Sparks of Love" Toy Drive at Christmas.
Why Join the Coto de Caza Committee?
The Coto Philharmonic offers members an excellent opportunity to become involved in a very worthwhile cause. The members believe in the purpose of supporting music programs in the schools. The Philharmonic offers great opportunities in leadership, participation in the community, and the opportunity to belong to a great social network. The Coto de Caza Committee offers activities for women and couples alike, as well as volunteering for the youth programs. The Committee attracts a diverse population of women spanning young and old, professional women, home makers, empty nesters. Our members live in Coto de Caza and neighboring communities.
Besides the Fund-Raising Events and Monthly Meetings, What Other Activities Does the Coto de Caza Committee Do?
The Coto de Caza Committee holds a Board Meeting each month to plan the upcoming activities and meetings. The Committee hosts social events for it members and couples alike throughout the year. The May meeting is devoted to the installation of Officers for the coming year.
